Jarren Duran delivered a walk-off single to cap a three-run rally in the 10th inning. It was Boston's first four-game home sweep over New York since 2018.
According to a statistic posted by SportsCenter, this marks the first time in franchise history that the Red Sox have swept the Yankees in a four-game series while Boston occupied last place and New York held first place in the division.
Gray Dominates Before Yankees Rally
Boston starter Sonny Gray carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning against his former team.
He recorded nine strikeouts to reach his 2,000th career strikeout before Amed Rosario singled with one out in the eighth to end the no-hit bid.
The Yankees rallied in the ninth inning against Boston closer Aroldis Chapman, scoring two runs to tie the game at 2-2.
The comeback was aided by a throwing error from right fielder Wilyer Abreu, though Chapman recovered to strike out the final batter.
Prior to Sunday's game, the Yankees rested star first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Ben Rice started at first base while Amed Rosario served as the designated hitter.
The victory extended Boston's winning streak to four games.
