BBC Radio 2 presenter Rylan Clark missed his weekly afternoon broadcast on Saturday, June 27, 2026, after widespread flight cancellations left him stranded in Nice, France.
Clark had been on a short vacation with his partner when travel disruptions hit, coinciding with a record-breaking UK heatwave that reached 37.3°C, causing severe delays at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Broadcaster Mark Goodier stepped in at the last minute to host the three-hour program, which Clark has anchored since 2019.
Calling into Emma Willis's radio show to explain his absence, Clark detailed how his travel plans unraveled at the airport.
"I was flying back very early this morning. Went to the airport, and it was like, 'No!'
And I was like, 'Sorry?'" Clark said.
The broadcaster admitted he even attempted to leverage his celebrity status at the airport terminal to secure an alternative route home, asking, "Do you know who I am?"
Clark later shared a lighthearted update on his Instagram account to apologize to his listeners and praise his last-minute replacement.
"Soz about today's show. I blame everyone but myself.
Genuinely had it all sussed out and then flights all cancelled. Thanks Mark for stepping in you legend.

Gonna have a rosé and think of you all," Clark wrote.
An audience member previously questioned Clark during a television appearance on The Assembly regarding his personal life and past relationship honesty.
"When you told your husband you cheated on him, he divorced you. Is honesty always the best policy?"
asked an audience member.
Clark responded transparently about the emotional toll of carrying secrets during his marriage.
"Yeah, I think it is.
I'm okay admitting I'm in the wrong, because actually I don't deal well with guilt, and I don't deal well with secrets.
It made me so ill, like so ill. It sounds a terrible thing to say, but I'm glad it happened," Clark said.
