Avelo Airlines announced on Tuesday that it will launch nonstop flights from McKinney National Airport (DTX) to five leisure destinations starting later this year.

The Houston-based low-cost carrier will begin operations on November 11, 2026, with an initial flight to Fort Myers, followed by service to Las Vegas, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Tampa.

The expansion coincides with the opening of a brand-new passenger terminal at the airport, which has historically been a point of local debate regarding commercial traffic development.

Airport officials indicated the project aims to capture regional travel demand by offering a more streamlined alternative to larger hubs.

New Routes and Introductory Fares

Introductory one-way fares for the new routes will start at $99. Avelo plans to base two Boeing 737-800 aircraft at the facility, generating more than 100 local jobs.

“I am proud to share that our collective efforts will culminate in November 2026 when we open a brand-new passenger terminal and launch Avelo Airlines flights for North Texas locals and visitors,” said Ken Carley, McKinney National Airport Director.

“McKinney travelers have many new developments to look forward to, including saving time and money as they can now fly from their local airport on an airline that is committed to serving the travel needs of and investing in our community,” Carley added.

Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO, highlighted the airline’s low fares and reliability.
