The Victoria Police Department has announced that several downtown streets will be closed to vehicle traffic on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to accommodate crowds gathering for Canada Day celebrations around the Inner Harbour.
According to law enforcement officials, the 500 block of Belleville Street, between Menzies and Government streets, will be blocked off starting around 6 a.

Depending on the number of attendees, additional closures may affect Government Street from Wharf to Superior streets, as well as Belleville Street between Douglas and Government streets.
As evening programming begins, authorities will shut down Government Street between Johnson and Wharf streets, and Wharf Street between Johnson and Government streets.
Songhees Road is also scheduled to close to motorists later in the day.

Victoria Police officers and reserve constables will monitor the restricted areas to maintain public safety throughout the event.
"We thank people for their patience in advance, as our officers work to manage road closures depending on congestion and crowd size," the police department said in a news release.
According to event organizers, the localized festivities kick off at Ship Point at 11 a. m.
, with larger crowds expected to gather near the Legislature stage when performances begin at 4:30 p. m.

A fireworks display is scheduled to conclude the celebration at 10:20 p. m.
