Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari sent congratulatory messages to Canadian Governor General Louise Arbour on Canada Day, July 1, 2026.
President Aliyev expressed optimism about future diplomatic engagements between Baku and Ottawa.

“I am confident that relations between Azerbaijan and Canada will continue to develop in the spirit of mutual respect, friendship, and cooperation,” Aliyev stated.
He also sent a separate message to Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Somalia’s national holiday.

“Azerbaijan-Somalia relations, based on friendship and mutual respect, are developing and expanding,” Aliyev noted.
President Zardari affirmed Pakistan’s high value of its partnership with Canada, built on shared interests and people-to-people connections.

He expressed confidence in expanding bilateral trade, investment, and higher education collaboration.
