A surge of soccer fans reported sudden ticket cancellations by third-party vendor StubHub ahead of World Cup matches, forcing families to miss games and prompting one Texas consumer to file an official complaint with the Texas Attorney General's Office on July 1, 2026.

Marilyn Gonzales of Cypress, Texas, stated that StubHub nullified her family's access on June 17, 2026, while they were en route to the stadium for a match between Portugal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"They knew on June 12 there was a problem — five days before the event," said Gonzales.

The company provided her with a refund and additional credit, but refused to comment on the subsequent regulatory complaint.

"I want StubHub to understand that others and I trusted them. We paid for tickets, and our tickets were not delivered," said Gonzales.

She is currently evaluating broader legal avenues following the incident.

"I also have been reading up on class-action lawsuits," added Gonzales.

She emphasized that financial remediation could not restore the lost experience.

"We can't get that Portugal game back, so at least make it right," said Gonzales.

Multiple Families Affected

In a separate incident reported by KPRC 2, Toronto school teacher Lisa Coulter had her tickets canceled just prior to her journey to Houston, though replacement seats were secured after media intervention.

"You are the only one that responded to my story," said Coulter.

Florida residents Yesenia Arteaga and Esteban Vidal experienced a similar situation before receiving replacements for a Miami quarterfinal match.
