A Tesla Semi truck struck two stopped passenger vehicles on U. S.
Route 50 in Dayton, Nevada, on Sunday morning, June 28, 2026, killing two people and critically injuring a third.

The collision occurred at approximately 7:20 a. m.
at the intersection of U. S.
50 and Traditions Parkway, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
This marks the first known fatal accident involving Tesla's electric Class 8 truck.
Details of the Crash
The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol reported that the westbound semi-truck rear-ended a classic Volkswagen Beetle and a red Toyota RAV4 SUV that were waiting at a red traffic light.

The two deceased victims were identified by family members and the Record-Courier as Sergio Villanueva and Jennifer Villanueva, a local married couple who died at the scene.
Care Flight transported a third injured individual to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
"Preliminary statements obtained at the scene suggest the driver of the truck might have fallen asleep," stated the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities stated the uninjured truck driver's identity and the vehicle's operator remain undisclosed as the investigation continues.

The location is within 40 miles of Gigafactory Nevada where Tesla manufactures the vehicle.
