Chevrolet discontinued the Malibu in November 2024, nearly two years ago. Yet 206 new examples still sold in the US in the first half of 2026.
Delivery figures from General Motors show 69 of those went out in the second quarter.

That is down sharply from 8,704 in the first half of 2025 and 3,335 in Q2 2025.
Chevrolet's online inventory tool shows about two dozen 2025 Malibu models still at dealerships. Many are at Champion Chevrolet in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Used Malibu Demand Surges
The Malibu has also surged on the used market.
As of January, it jumped from 29th to 8th on the list of most popular used cars in America.
Rental fleets offloaded thousands after the sedan was discontinued. Demand simply moved to the secondhand market.

GM Sales Slip Overall
GM sold 1,341,325 vehicles in the US through June, down 6.8% from 1,439,951 a year earlier.
Second-quarter sales fell 4.2% to 714,896.
Cadillac suffered a 19.2% drop in Q2, mainly due to the axing of the XT4 in January 2025.
Its sales fell from 4,010 to just 83.

Other Cadillac models also declined: Escalade (-5.9%), Lyriq (-16.1%), XT5 (-9.6%), and XT6 (-81.7%).
