JioStar has elevated senior sports media executive Prashant Khanna to an expanded leadership role, effective July 4, 2026.
The move is designed to strengthen the company's sports portfolio amid intensifying competition for premium broadcasting content across platforms.

Khanna's expanded mandate covers strategic partnerships, sports rights, syndication, innovation initiatives, business development, and digital sports businesses in both domestic and international markets.
Extensive Industry Experience
Khanna brings nearly nine years of experience across Star, Disney Star, and JioStar to his new position.
He previously managed production, technology, and innovation functions that supported major industry sporting events and broadcasts.
In a LinkedIn post, Khanna expressed excitement about taking on the new role as Head of Sports Rights, Innovation, and Cricinfo Business at JioStar.

He noted that the evolving sports media ecosystem requires closer collaboration between broadcasters, rights holders, and technology partners to unlock new growth opportunities.
Beyond his responsibilities at JioStar, Khanna serves as the Production Contract Manager for the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the 2024–27 cycle.
He is also a member of the IPL World Feed Production Committee under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Before joining the Star network in 2017, Khanna spent over seven years in leadership positions at The Walt Disney Company.

His career also includes professional stints at News Corporation, NDTV, Turner Broadcasting System, Reliance MediaWorks, Hinduja Group, Encompass Digital Media, and QSport Media.
