An additional report was issued early Tuesday by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a monitoring center led by the British navy.

The agency announced that a tanker crew off the coast of Oman reported an explosion.

The monitoring center stated that an unidentified projectile hit the vessel near the eastern mouth of the strait, sparking an onboard fire.

However, the initial assessment indicated no casualties or environmental damage occurred from the strike.

The UKMTO notification did not publicly identify the specific tanker involved or clarify the nature of its cargo.
