Right-hander German Marquez is scheduled to start for the Padres.
It will be his first start since early May after a stint on the injured list due to nerve inflammation in his throwing arm.
Marquez pitched three innings out of the bullpen on July 2, allowing two runs and five baserunners.
He has a 5.79 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 32 2/3 innings this year.
The Diamondbacks will counter with right-hander Zac Gallen. Gallen has a 6.36 ERA and 5.34 FIP in 18 starts this season.
Gallen has struggled recently, giving up 20 runs over 16 1/3 innings in his last three starts.

He has not held an opponent to two or fewer runs since May 18.
Lineup and Offensive Woes
San Diego's starting lineup includes Fernando Tatis Jr. in right field, Jackson Merrill in center, and Samad Taylor in left.
The infield features Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, Sung-Mun Song, and Jake Cronenworth, with Luis Campusano catching and Gavin Sheets as designated hitter.
The Padres have scored four or more runs only twice since the start of July.
Their pitching staff has limited opponents to four or fewer runs just twice in that same period.
San Diego trails Arizona by one game for second place in the National League West. They are 4.5 games out of a Wild Card spot.
