The AMC spinoff series "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" has secured the franchise's first-ever Primetime Emmy Award nomination.
The nomination was announced on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The series is nominated for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode for its season three premiere, "Costa da Morte," which originally aired on Sept.
7, 2025.

com, the series faces competition in the category against A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Paradise, Spider-Noir, and Gen V.
The winner will be announced during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies on Sept. 5 and Sept.
6, 2026, ahead of the live telecast on Sept. 14, 2026.
Uncertainty Over Lead Actor's Future
The historic nomination arrives amid uncertainty regarding the future of the franchise and lead actor Norman Reedus, who appeared to bid farewell to his character on Instagram last month.

Despite the social media posts, AMC Chief Content Officer Dan McDermott revealed that the network is actively planning for Reedus to return to the universe after the spinoff's fourth season concludes later this year.
"We are in active discussions with him right now about what we should and can do for the next iteration of a story in the Walking Dead Universe for Daryl Dixon," said McDermott in an interview with The Ankler.
The network executive also emphasized that the broader franchise will remain a staple of the company's broadcasting lineup moving forward.
"We will always have Walking Dead shows on our platforms," said McDermott.
Upcoming Schedule
As reported by ScreenRant, the franchise's immediate programming schedule shifts toward other prominent characters.
"The Walking Dead: Dead City" season three is scheduled to premiere on July 25, 2026.
Meanwhile, "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" season three is scheduled to debut on Netflix on July 19, 2026.

Season four is expected to air later this year after Dead City concludes its run.
