Olympic gold medalist and former NCAA wrestling champion Gable Steveson has expressed immense confidence in his athletic versatility ahead of his promotional debut at UFC 329.
The event is scheduled for July 11, 2026, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Steveson will face Elisha Ellison in his first Ultimate Fighting Championship bout, entering with an undefeated 3-0 professional MMA record.
His training camp includes heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Belief in Being the Next Big Thing
Steveson addressed public expectations surrounding his entry into the promotion.
"I think it's a huge way to go out there and have people say, 'Man, he could be the next big thing,'" he said.
However, he emphasized that personal conviction outweighs external hype.
"But I think when you believe that you can be the next big thing, that is a different story.

Because other people say, 'You can be,' but you already know that you will be," Steveson stated.

The undefeated fighter explained that his elite mindset extends beyond combat sports.
"So, I believe I can be the best at anything," he continued.
Steveson listed specific mainstream sports where he believes he could achieve world-class status if he chose to pursue them.
"I can play baseball, I can play soccer, I can go out there and play cricket, I can do anything I probably ever wanted.
