McLaren driver Lando Norris finished fourth at the British Grand Prix on Sunday after exploring an audacious radio plot to snatch a victory through the pit lane during a late race neutralization at Silverstone.

The race concluded behind the Safety Car following a late incident involving Max Verstappen, which grouped the entire field together and prompted the governing body to clarify the finish.

"The Safety Car period regulation, Article B5.13.5, states that one lap must be completed following the unlapping procedure.

This process was followed by Race Operations.

The 'Safety Car In This Lap' message was displayed erroneously due to a software error," stated the FIA.

While circulating under the safety car, Norris attempted to find a loophole in the regulations to outsmart his competitors ahead.

"You're not allowed to box are you? You can't win it in the pit lane?"

asked Norris.

The historical precedent for the idea dates back to Michael Schumacher's controversial 1998 victory at the same circuit, but modern rules forbid taking the checkered flag via the pit lane.

"Shame," said Norris.

Norris Reflects on Performance and Car Issues

Following the race, Norris evaluated his performance and admitted that the team benefited significantly from the misfortunes of rival drivers.

"Considering how not nice it's felt out there, P4 and a P3 this weekend in the Sprint is quite remarkable, honestly," said Norris.

The defending world champion emphasized that securing points under difficult handling conditions remains crucial for his ongoing title campaign.
