Conor McGregor will make his long-awaited return to the octagon this Saturday at UFC 329, facing Max Holloway in a five-round welterweight bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The former two-division champion has not fought since July 2021, when he suffered a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

The 37-year-old Irishman's absence from mixed martial arts spans nearly five years.

Saturday's fight is a rematch of their 2013 featherweight encounter, which McGregor won by decision.

During that first bout, McGregor tore his ACL but still managed to secure victory using his grappling skills.

No championship title is on the line for this weekend's event, but the result could significantly impact future title opportunities in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Title Implications

A win for McGregor could set up a lightweight title fight against new champion Justin Gaethje, who recently defeated Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250.

Other contenders like Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira are also waiting for title shots.

Alternatively, a victory could lead McGregor to a welterweight title fight against the winner of the UFC 330 main event between Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry.
