The WNBA has penalized Phoenix Mercury players Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas for technical fouls committed during Tuesday's 77-66 defeat against the Chicago Sky.
Copper received an official warning letter and a $1,000 fine after picking up her fifth technical foul of the season in the third quarter.

According to league regulations, the fourth through seventh technical fouls each carry a $1,000 fine, and a fifth violation triggers a warning.
Copper is now two technical fouls away from an automatic one-game suspension.
Thomas was fined $1,000 for her fourth technical foul of the season, which occurred in the second quarter when she complained about a foul call.

She had previously served a suspension for a flagrant foul on June 24.
The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Phoenix Mercury, dropping their season record to 8-14.

Copper led the team with 25 points, while Thomas contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.
