IFC has released the main official trailer for the comedy film Idiots, directed by Macon Blair. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on August 28, 2026.
The film follows two unqualified individuals hired to transport a wealthy teenager to a rehabilitation facility. The task quickly descends into chaos.

Idiots features an ensemble cast including Dave Franco, O'Shea Jackson Jr., and Mason Thames.
The project initially debuted at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival under its original title, The Sh&theads, before undergoing a title change in April.
Sundance organizers described the film as a unique comedic project during its festival run. "We're all doing our best here, sir," stated an excerpt from the promotional material.
Festival organizers highlighted Blair's directorial style, noting his previous works I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore and The Toxic Avenger remake.

"Blair treats us to his signature absurdist sense of humor and douses it with gasoline and psychedelics, crafting an uncanny world where the worst intentions net the highest yields," according to the Sundance description.
The narrative focuses on the dynamic between the lead characters.
"When two unqualified bozos are hired to transfer a rich teen to rehab, their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem.
Dave Franco & O'Shea Jackson Jr are perfectly (mis)matched as Mark and Davis, the fumbling circumstantial chaperones in charge of transporting the increasingly psychotic Sheridan (a brilliant Mason Thames)," stated the Sundance synopsis.

The screenplay was written by Blair, based on a story developed by Blair and Alex Orr. The supporting cast includes Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage.
