A man died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in South Yorkshire, according to South Yorkshire Police.
The incident occurred on Saturday 10 October at 1.35pm, police said.
Emergency crews treated the man at the scene, but he was pronounced dead despite the efforts of medical personnel.
The park was evacuated and authorities launched an investigation.
Police Statement and Tiger's Condition
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the man suffered serious injuries after entering the enclosure.
The man's family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Police also addressed rumours about the tiger, confirming the animal was uninjured and remained inside the enclosure.
There is no wider risk to the public, the force added.
Videos circulating online appeared to show the man being attacked by a tiger inside the enclosure.
Police said they were aware of the footage and asked people not to distribute it.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed that two land ambulances, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and a doctor attended the scene.
Park Response and Closure
Yorkshire Wildlife Park said a serious incident had occurred at the tiger enclosure and its emergency response procedures were immediately activated.
The park said it was working closely with authorities to establish exactly what happened.
It added that the safety and wellbeing of visitors, staff and animals remain its highest priority.
The park is now closed and will remain closed tomorrow, according to its statement.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened in 2009, with its Land of the Tigers attraction opening in 2011.
According to the park, the attraction is a two-acre reserve for endangered Amur tigers.
Photos published on the park's website show the enclosure includes visitor walkways and fencing above areas where tigers can roam.
