The Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB) published the 2026 High School Transition System (LGS) preference and placement guide on July 10, 2026, officially opening the high school selection process for students across the country.

According to the official calendar, the preference period will run from July 13 to July 27, 2026, following the release of the central examination results earlier that morning.

Students can select up to 10 schools for central placement based on their test scores. Placement results and vacant quotas will be announced on August 5, 2026.

Minister's Message to Students

Following the announcement of the exam results, National Education Minister Yusuf Tekin shared a message addressing the prospective students regarding their upcoming choices.

"Sınavda aldığınız puanın ötesinde her biriniz bizim için eşsiz bir değere sahipsiniz. En kıymetlilerimizsiniz," stated Minister Yusuf Tekin.

The minister emphasized the significance of choosing schools aligned with personal interests and capabilities during this critical secondary education transition phase.

"Hayallerinizi gerçekleştirme yolunda tüm öğretmenlerimizle birlikte daima yanınızda olacağız. Bu heyecanlı yolculukta hepinize başarılar diliyor, gözlerinizden öpüyorum," stated Minister Yusuf Tekin.

The central placement process utilizes exam scores to distribute students into science, social sciences, Anadolu, Anadolu Imam Hatip, and vocational high schools.

In instances where exam scores are tied, the ministry uses secondary criteria including School Success Score (OBP), lower unexcused absences, and age.

For local placement based on residency, the system evaluates students' addresses, school success scores, and attendance records.

Private education institutions and talent-based schools will also conduct their final registrations between July 13 and July 27, 2026.

Students finalized in these institutions cannot make central choices unless they cancel their private enrollment during the preference window.

The transfer process will occur across two separate periods.

The first transfer applications are scheduled for August 5–7, 2026, with results due on August 10, 2026.

The second transfer applications will follow on August 10–12, 2026, with announcements on August 14, 2026.
