Polish consumers are leaning on second-hand purchases to manage household budgets, according to the eBay Recommerce Report 2026.

The report found that 55% of Polish respondents buy used products monthly, while 77% said these purchases help with daily budget management.

The findings were cited by Business Insider Poland and other outlets.

Cost Savings Drive Second-Hand Demand

Cost reduction is the main reason Polish shoppers choose used goods.

One-third of respondents named saving money as their primary motivation, and 37% said they opt for used items when they want to consciously cut expenses.

Price matters, but long-term value also shapes decisions.

The report found 28% prioritize overall value when picking online sellers, weighing competitive prices against low or free delivery, while 80% are willing to pay more for durable products.

eBay Chief Executive Officer Jamie Iannone said the marketplace has supported recommerce for three decades and noted growing consumer interest in used goods.

"Recommerce from 30 years has been a foundation of our marketplace, and this year's report clearly shows that its importance in people's lives continues to grow," Iannone said.

He added that consumers worldwide choose used products for their affordability, quality, trust, unique offers, and environmental benefits.

Selling used items also provides financial support for some Polish respondents.

Among those asked about online sales, 46% pointed to earning additional income or funds for current expenses, while 22% said sales help finance everyday household purchases and bills.

Fashion leads Poland's used goods market, with 56% of respondents selecting everyday clothing as a frequently purchased category.

Other popular categories include footwear and sneakers at 38%, home and kitchen equipment and lifestyle products at 34%, electronics at 31%, media and entertainment at 30%, and automotive products at 26%.

The eBay Recommerce Report 2026 was based on an online survey by Bounce Insight among 10,522 consumers across 10 markets, including Poland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Austria, and Japan.
