Commuters on the M25 motorway faced severe delays on July 10, 2026, due to a series of traffic incidents and emergency repairs.

A collision between a car and a lorry on the anticlockwise carriageway between junction 27 for the M11 and junction 26 for Waltham Abbey caused significant disruption during the morning rush hour.

According to traffic service Inrix, all vehicles were temporarily held before 08:00 BST due to the incident.

National Highways reported via social media platform X that all lanes reopened shortly before 09:30 BST.

However, motorists continued to face residual delays of 40 minutes alongside six miles of congestion.

This incident followed an earlier van crash near Brentwood that forced the closure of one lane, causing traffic to build on the Essex route, as reported by the Gazette News.

A separate bottleneck occurred on the clockwise section of the M25 between junction five for Sevenoaks and junction six for Godstone.

National Highways stated that three lanes were closed overnight for urgent carriageway repairs, triggering delays of approximately one hour during the Friday morning peak period.

Travel site Inrix confirmed that the infrastructure repairs were completed and all lanes reopened later that morning.
