Jürgen Klopp has disclosed an extraordinary attempt by Liverpool to sign a teenage Kylian Mbappé, involving a mid-air meeting aboard a private jet.

The former Liverpool manager shared the story while covering France's World Cup quarter-final win over Morocco on German station Magenta TV.

Liverpool's High-Stakes Pursuit

In the summer of 2017, Liverpool was among several top European clubs chasing Mbappé after his breakout season with Monaco, which included a Champions League semi-final run.

Klopp confirmed that Liverpool rented a five-cabin private jet to fly the Mbappé family for negotiations.

The deal was reportedly valued at €500 million, though it ultimately fell through.

Mbappé joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan in August 2017, with the move becoming permanent the following year for €180 million.
