Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey has demanded stronger protections for British democracy following revelations that Elon Musk's family foundation financed far-right activist Tommy Robinson's recent trip to Russia.
Robinson, whose legal name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, traveled to Moscow alongside Errol Musk, the father of billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk.

The elder Musk confirmed that the private philanthropic organization funded the entire journey, which included meetings with various Russian business figures.
Political Fallout
The political fallout prompted swift condemnation from Davey regarding the security implications of the visit.
"Tommy Robinson is a useful idiot for a hostile state.
What kind of so-called British patriot jets to Moscow to rub shoulders with Putin's cronies, bankrolled by a US trillionaire?"
said Davey.
Davey further emphasized the immediate need to counter external pressures on domestic political institutions.
"We must protect our democracy from far-right thugs, shady tech bros and foreign interference," said Davey.
Errol Musk defended the travel arrangements and praised Robinson's character during their time together in Russia.
"I brought him out to Russia," said Errol Musk.
The trip occurred amidst broader concerns that the Kremlin is actively establishing connections with various European far-right figures, coinciding with appearances by other online influencers in the country.

"He's very hotheaded, but at the same time, he's learning," said Errol Musk.
The discussions in Moscow reportedly touched upon domestic demographic issues within Russia.
