A recent Pew Research Center survey reveals a historic shift in global perceptions, with China now viewed more favorably than the United States in a majority of countries surveyed.
The survey, conducted from February to May across 36 nations, found that respondents in 25 countries held more positive views of China than of the U.

Only six countries, such as Poland and South Korea, maintained a more favorable opinion of the United States.
First Time in Two Decades
Laura Silver, associate director of Pew’s Global Attitudes Research, noted that this is the first time in 20 years of tracking that China has surpassed the U.
S. in global favorability.

She attributed the shift partly to the war in Ukraine, which has diminished confidence in U. S.
leadership under Donald Trump.
“There was just an actual relationship between the outbreak of the war and the sense that the US is just not contributing to peace and stability,” Silver said.
Additionally, the fading memory of the COVID-19 pandemic has worked in China’s favor, allowing it to be seen as a more reliable partner globally.
“By comparison, we know that China is seen to be a more reliable partner in many places.

It’s more likely to be seen to contribute to global peace and stability,” Silver added.
