The board and executives of Delivery Hero have unanimously backed the takeover. Prosus has committed to selling its 17% stake in Delivery Hero to Uber.
Kristin Skogen Lund, chair of the Delivery Hero supervisory board, stated that joining forces with a strong partner is the right move to secure future competitiveness.
Germany Investment and Future Outlook
Uber pledged to maintain Delivery Hero's headquarters in Berlin.
The company committed to no workforce changes until at least 2029 and plans to invest €2 billion in Germany over five years.
The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2027.
After completion, Uber will offer taxi services and food delivery in 58 markets, up from its current 34.
Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber's chief executive, said the move will nearly double the number of markets where both mobility and delivery services are offered.
He noted it will create significant long-term value for customers and shareholders.
Delivery Hero founder Niklas Östberg started his first delivery firm in 2008 before establishing Delivery Hero in 2011.

Under pressure from activist investors, he agreed to leave the company in May.
