Honda is discontinuing the Prologue electric crossover after the 2026 model year, effectively ending the company's current battery-electric vehicle offerings in the United States.

The move follows the earlier demise of the mechanically similar Acura ZDX, which was killed off in 2025 after just one year on the market.

Partnership with GM Ends

The Prologue and ZDX were developed in partnership with General Motors, essentially serving as restyled versions of the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq, respectively.

Honda had invested billions in electric vehicles, but its own in-house models were not ready in time, prompting the collaboration with GM to bring vehicles to market quickly.

However, the reception was mixed. While the Prologue saw relatively decent sales initially, the ZDX struggled and was quickly axed.

Since then, Honda has also canceled its own 0 Series sedan and SUV, the Acura RSX, and the entire Sony Honda Mobility brand.

In a statement to Carbuzz, Honda confirmed it will conclude Prologue sales later this year after the 2026 model year ends.

Customers will continue to receive full support, including service, parts, and warranty coverage.

Last year, Prologue sales in the US rose 19.1% to 39,194 units, likely driven by a rush to secure the federal tax credit before it was eliminated.

After the tax credit was phased out, sales plummeted. In December, only 932 crossovers were sold, an 88.6% decline.

The first six months of 2026 have been even worse, with dealers selling just 8,407 EVs, down 48.5% and averaging about 1,400 per month.

That made the Prologue American Honda's second-slowest selling vehicle, behind only the Prelude.

It was even outsold by every Acura model still in production, including the soon-to-be-discontinued RDX.
