A massive five-hour Russian ballistic missile raid struck Kyiv, leaving at least one person dead and seven others injured, according to reports.
The barrage caused widespread fires, extensive building damage, and led to the temporary closure of a local metro station after a blast wave collapsed its ceiling.

Ukrainian officials stated that Russian forces targeted the capital with approximately 40 Iskander-M and hypersonic Zircon missiles.
The attack prompted air defense responses and multiple explosions across the city, including impacts in the historic center and the central Shevchenkivsky district.
The city military administration detailed the casualties via a digital messaging platform as emergency workers combed through the debris of affected structures.
"According to preliminary information, one person was, sadly, killed as a result of the attack," the city military administration said on Telegram.

The defensive situation remains critical as local leaders assess the full physical toll of the early morning bombardment on civilian infrastructure.
The strikes occurred during a period of domestic political tension in Kyiv, following the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Federov.
In tandem with the defense challenges, Ukrainian forces previously launched drone strikes against logistics hubs inside Russia on Saturday, which Volodymyr Zelenskyy linked to Russian military production supplies.

"In response to Russian strikes on our civilian infrastructure and on our cities and communities, two major logistics facilities were hit – in the Moscow and Tambov regions," Zelenskyy said.
