It is anticipated to move westward and intensify into a Category 2 hurricane later in the week.
Concurrently, the western Atlantic maintains a relatively quiet tropical season, recording no hurricanes and only one named system, Storm Arthur.
However, a tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico is forecast to develop into Tropical Storm Bertha.
This system is expected to track along the southern coastlines of Louisiana and Texas.
