A small dog that had been missing for weeks was rescued by emergency responders after being spotted swimming in the San Francisco Bay.
The dog disappeared during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, according to the Menlo Park fire protection district.

On July 16, a 911 caller reported seeing a dog enter the water near the Dumbarton Bridge in East Palo Alto.
Rescue Operations and Technology
The Menlo Park fire protection district deployed an extensive rescue operation involving at least two trucks, a standard boat, and an airboat.
Rescuers initially used binoculars to maintain visual contact from the shoreline. They later deployed a drone to track the dog's movements from above.

The fire department published video documentation of the rescue on social media.
The operation involved joint efforts from police officers and firefighters. After bringing the dog to shore, they dried it with towels.
Officials transferred the animal to the local SPCA, which identified the owners and organized a reunion.

"Dog and family have been reunited," the Menlo Park fire protection district posted on Instagram.
