Quebec's ruling political party has officially changed its name to highlight Premier Christine Fréchette.
The Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) is now known as Équipe Christine Fréchette - Coalition avenir Québec.

The change was authorized by Quebec's chief electoral officer, according to a report by noovo. info on July 20, 2026.
The party, founded in 2012, previously held the official designation Coalition avenir Québec - L'équipe François Legault.
The administrative modification aims to clearly distinguish the current administration from that of former Premier François Legault.
As part of the rebranding, the party has already rearranged its official website homepage. The old party name now appears less prominently, making room for the new leader.

Premier Addresses Rebranding
During a press conference on the sidelines of an announcement in Longueuil, Premier Fréchette addressed the decision directly.
"My arrival corresponds to a change in approach, change in style and leadership. The name carried that of Mr. Legault, now it is associated with my name.
It is part of the change we are making in governance and leadership," she explained.
Fréchette entered provincial politics in 2022, winning election as a member of the National Assembly for the riding of Sanguinet, west of Montérégie.

She held several key ministerial portfolios before becoming premier in April.
