We're just gonna see what happens there," said Luke Hansen, a Guardians fan.
Traveling supporters expressed frustration over the timing of the official cancellation after making long trips.
Carl Latimer, a visiting fan who drove in from smoke-impacted Pittsburgh, questioned the delay in postponing the matchup.
"The air looked like this at noon. Why didn't they cancel the game at noon?"
said Latimer, a Pirates fan.
Latimer later made a lighthearted comment regarding the widespread Canadian fires causing the regional issue.
"Is there any trees left in Canada?" he said.
Author Jeff Burton, who traveled from Utah while documenting his national ballpark journey, also had his plans put on hold.
"So it's [called] 'Relish the moment,'" said Burton.
Burton remains hopeful that weather conditions will improve so he can complete his stadium visit.
"Fingers crossed. Relish the moment.
Let's go," he said.
The Cleveland Guardians and Pittsburgh Pirates are scheduled to make up the postponed game during a split doubleheader beginning at 1:10 p.
