The sweeping import duties are scheduled to take effect within 30 days, targeting product categories such as wine, hockey sticks, cement, dairy products, furniture, and wigs.

The announcement comes immediately before Canadian provincial leaders convene for their annual premiers' meeting in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, scheduled from July 21 to 23.
