St Helens head coach Paul Rowley stepped down on July 23, 2026, leaving the Super League club with immediate effect after less than a year in charge and just ahead of Friday's derby against Wigan Warriors.
The 51-year-old took over before the 2026 season on a three-year contract after leaving financially-stricken Salford Red Devils.

However, Saints have struggled for consistency during a campaign hampered by a major injury crisis.
St Helens currently sit sixth in the Super League table, trailing leaders Leeds Rhinos by six points.
Recent setbacks include a 32-0 Challenge Cup semi-final loss to Wigan and a historic 46-0 home defeat against Toulouse, though Saints recovered slightly with a 32-18 victory over Catalans Dragons last week.
Assistant coach Eamon O'Carroll will assume interim leadership for the upcoming match at the Brick Community Stadium, as reported by BBC Sport and Sky Sports.

"The decision was an extremely difficult one for all concerned, and we fully recognise the extra challenges that Paul faced with us this particular season," said Eamonn McManus, Chairman of St Helens.
McManus emphasized the club's focus on maintaining its historic standing and securing future trophies following the departure.
"We as a club must now look forward and do all within our powers to preserve our position as the most successful club in the history of Super League and to restore our position as a silverware contender going forward," he said.
