Winnipeg police arrested two men following a two-vehicle collision Friday evening on Pembina Highway in St. Norbert that sent a woman and a toddler to the hospital.
Authorities responded around 8 p. m.

to the 3000 block of Pembina Highway after receiving reports of the crash. Emergency personnel transported the female driver and young child to the hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses told officers that two male occupants fled the vehicle while attempting to hide bags near an adjacent hotel.
During a search of the area, police located a bag containing a . 22-caliber semi-automatic rifle along with a loaded magazine.
Suspects Apprehended
Officers apprehended the 17-year-old suspect nearby, seizing two CO2-powered pistols, crack cocaine, and drug-packaging materials.

He faces charges related to firearm possession and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
A police helicopter subsequently tracked down the 33-year-old suspect as he stumbled through a nearby field.
He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The older suspect faces charges including impaired driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, firearm offences, and breaching a warrant after police recovered cocaine and methamphetamine during his arrest.

Investigators seized approximately 135 grams of illicit drugs throughout the operation. Both suspects remain in police custody as court proceedings are pending.
