AnMed hospital system in Upstate South Carolina has confirmed that a malware cyberattack caused a phone and internet outage across all its locations on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The disruption forced AnMed Medical Group offices and imaging services to close on Monday, July 27.

Urgent care, kids care, integrated therapy, and laboratory services remain open as scheduled.
The hospital system is diverting patients to other regional hospitals, including facilities in Greenville. Staff continue to treat patients onsite, especially in emergency rooms, despite communication challenges.
A recently discharged patient described the situation inside AnMed as chaotic. Electronic patient records and MyChart access were down, causing anxiety among patients and staff.
"I just got discharged, but I wasn’t able to get any paperwork or anything. Everybody’s MyCharts are down," the patient said.
"It’s crazy up there right now."
Despite the difficulties, the patient praised the care received and acknowledged the staff's efforts amid circumstances beyond their control.
"It’s just a very scary situation. You never know who’s behind it," the patient added.

An official from Medshore confirmed to FOX Carolina that many patients are being transferred from AnMed to other hospitals in Greenville.
"They’re transferring a lot of the patients to Prisma from what I understand, from what the staff told me," the patient said.
In a statement, AnMed acknowledged the incident involved malware affecting its network.
The hospital is working with third-party cybersecurity experts and state and federal authorities to restore full functionality promptly.
"Protecting patients and providing safe, high-quality care remain our highest priorities," AnMed said.
"Decisions regarding procedures, patient transfers, diversions and operational processes are being made with patient safety as the guiding principle."
The hospital system is coordinating closely with emergency medical services, regional hospitals, and public safety partners to ensure continued patient care.
