Girlguiding has relaxed its uniform rules for the first time in 30 years, allowing members to wear just a top to be considered in uniform.
The change, effective July 27, 2026, prioritizes self-expression, belonging, and confidence.

The simplified dress policy follows feedback from a survey of 2,000 girls aged six to 16.
In the survey, 93 percent of respondents said they felt most comfortable when given the freedom to style themselves.
New Collection Designed with Member Input
The organization's first full uniform redesign in more than three decades was created with input from 55,000 girls and women across its Guides, Rainbows, Brownies, and Rangers branches.
Designed by HemingwayDesign, the updated collection combines traditional brand recognition with modern colors and prints across 30 garments and 15 accessories.
Prices start at £12 for a t-shirt.
Felicity Oswald, Girlguiding chief executive, emphasized the focus on individuality.
"The new range is all about providing girls with the freedom to express themselves, whilst feeling part of our amazing organisation," she said.
The updated attire integrates practical functionality, including hidden waistband pockets, thumb holes, and badge sashes that double as cross-body bags.
"With practicality, comfort and sustainability at the very core of the designs, we know that self-expression and confidence go hand in hand," Oswald added.
Oswald noted that the policy update aims to foster strong social ties among members.
"The introduction of the new uniform is designed to further nurture that confidence and foster a true sense of belonging," she said.
