House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries kicked off a 100-day push toward the midterm elections on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
He unveiled the party's "Fighting for an Affordable America" campaign agenda at a steelworkers' union hall.

Jeffries rallied alongside Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro for Democratic congressional candidate Bob Brooks.
Brooks, a retired firefighter, is challenging freshman Republican Representative Ryan Mackenzie in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District.
Democrats aim to reclaim the House majority. Jeffries emphasized lowering household costs as the core policy focus.
"House Democrats are fighting for an affordable America," Jeffries said. "House Democrats are fighting to lower the cost of groceries, gas and housing."
Jeffries highlighted financial pressures on working families. "That American dream is fading," he said.
"And the leaders who should be fighting to keep the dream alive are putting it further out of reach."

He stressed that regaining the congressional majority is key to checking executive power.
"When you put us back in charge of the United States House of Representatives, you'll get a Congress that speaks up for everyday Americans and a Congress that stands up to an out-of-control president," Jeffries said.
Governor Shapiro, seeking a second term, emphasized Pennsylvania's pivotal role. "We are, of course, the swingiest swing state," Shapiro said.
He framed local races as vital to restoring stability in Washington.
"We will do our part to carry forward the goodness and the decency that defines Pennsylvania and put an end to the chaos and cruelty and the corruption that exists in Washington," Shapiro said.
