A 29-year-old woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash early Monday morning, July 27, 2026, moments after stepping out of a rideshare in Southwest Philadelphia's Elmwood Park neighborhood, according to police.

The incident occurred around 3:15 a. m.

along the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue near South Lloyd Street.

An eastbound vehicle traveling at high speed struck the victim as she crossed the roadway, authorities said.

The impact launched the victim into the rear windshield of a nearby parked car before she landed on the sidewalk, local authorities reported.

Medics rushed her to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 4:05 a. m.

The rideshare driver witnessed the collision and remained at the scene to speak with investigators.

The driver reported that the incident happened too quickly to determine the specific make or model of the vehicle.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding businesses to identify the driver and vehicle involved.

The victim's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
