Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has praised the club's renewed ambition following a £237 million summer spending spree.
The club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 season, prompting a full rebuild backed by majority owners, the Lewis family.

Spurs broke their transfer record twice, signing midfielder Mateus Fernandes for £85 million and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for £100 million.
Van de Ven acknowledged that competing in European competitions is now a key target.
Van de Ven on Positive Changes
Speaking during Tottenham's pre-season tour in Australia, Van de Ven highlighted the positive changes at the club.
"It's really good that you can see the club has made some changes," he told British media.
"They have brought a really good new manager, in my opinion, and some really good new signings. You can see the club has new ambition.
It's something that's really important for players that have been there for a long time."
Van de Ven added that Tottenham aims to qualify for European football annually.

"Spurs is a team that needs to play Europe every year, so obviously the European spots are something we are going to aim for.
The most important thing is we play our football and that we are a difficult team to play against."
The club has undergone significant changes in the past year, including the departure of long-serving chairman Daniel Levy in September, poor runs of form, and the dismissal of manager Thomas Frank in February.
Igor Tudor served as interim boss before Roberto De Zerbi was appointed in March.
Van de Ven supports De Zerbi's style. "It's going to be different compared to the former manager we had last season.
It's going to be more with the ball, more playing football. I think it's going to be more enjoyable for people to watch playing offensive football," he said.

Despite Liverpool being linked with Van de Ven, reports indicate no official interest from the club.
