, generating over 900 error reports.

By late afternoon, 420 Barclays users, 293 Lloyds customers, and 193 Halifax account holders had formally logged service failures.

Faster Payments Network Failure

The disruptions primarily stemmed from a critical system failure within the Faster Payments network, causing widespread delays and transaction errors.

Many customers received false alerts indicating their transfers had failed, prompting them to attempt duplicate transactions.

A statement posted to X in response to a customer query by Lloyds said: "Sorry for the inconvenience.

We're investigating an issue affecting Faster Payments, which may cause delays."

The institution urged affected account holders to refrain from reinitiating transactions to prevent unintended multiple charges.

Replying to one customer, Lloyds Bank said: "Your payment has been successfully processed; however, there may be a slight delay before it appears in your transactions or leaves your account."

The representative added further instructions regarding transaction safety. "Please do not resend the payment, as this could result in the transaction being processed twice.

Thank you for your patience," Lloyds Bank said.

Frustrated customers reported being unable to access funds, make urgent payments, or receive incoming deposits.

One affected user said: "I've just transferred money into my Halifax and It's not showing up? This is disgraceful."
