A search and rescue operation is underway in Lake Malawi for four Dutch citizens and three crew members who went missing during a boat trip on Sunday.
The group disappeared while attempting to cross Lake Malawi from Tanzania. They departed from Mbamba Bay in Tanzania for a journey spanning over 60 kilometers.

Authorities launched an emergency response after the speedboat failed to arrive at its scheduled time in Nkhata Bay, Malawi.
No communication has been received since departure.
Search Efforts Intensify
Multiple teams have been deployed to conduct the search, according to the Malawian news site Nyasa Times.

A local assistant ship inspector working in Nkhata Bay stated that the vessel likely experienced a mechanical failure during the crossing.
The four missing tourists are reportedly members of the same family.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed awareness of the incident. Embassy staff in the region are collaborating with local authorities to provide consular assistance to the family.

Local officials have issued an urgent appeal to fishermen, boat owners, and residents living along the shores of the lake to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the vessel or its occupants.
