Discovery Home Entertainment is bringing the DC Universe film "Supergirl" to premium video-on-demand platforms on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after a lackluster theatrical performance.
The superhero adaptation will be available for digital purchase at $24.99 before its physical media debut in September.
Box Office Disappointment
The film, which cost $170 million to produce with an additional $120 million marketing budget, earned only $123.8 million globally, according to Variety.
Released on June 26, "Supergirl" opened with $37 million domestically but saw a sharp 77 percent drop in its second weekend.
DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran addressed the film's performance in a statement to The New York Times, emphasizing the studio's long-term strategy.
"While Supergirl didn't meet our box office expectations, it's just one component of a broader, long-term strategy at DC Studios that we remain confident in," Safran said.
Cast and Home Release Details
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and Jason Momoa as the mercenary Lobo.
Following the digital release, the physical media version will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on September 8, 2026.
