Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk shattered a glass window at Nationals Park on July 27, 2026, when his bat slipped out of his hands during a fifth-inning strikeout against the Washington Nationals.
The bat flew into the camera well adjacent to the Blue Jays' dugout during the opening game of a three-game series.

Reporter Documents Damage
Sportsnet reporter Hazel Mae was in the camera well at the time and documented the damage. "The bat that helicoptered over my head shattered the glass behind me.

The incident occurred as Kirk continues his return from an early-season left thumb injury.

Kirk fractured and dislocated his thumb on April 3 against the Chicago White Sox, requiring surgery and causing him to miss 62 games.
