A federal court in Miami has ordered social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate to remain in custody for at least two more weeks as they contest extradition to the United Kingdom.
US Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis set a detention hearing for August 13 to decide whether the brothers should be jailed or released during the extradition process.

The Tates were arrested by US Marshals in Miami on July 18 on a sealed warrant after British prosecutors filed dozens of new charges.
59 Charges Filed by UK Prosecutors
The Crown Prosecution Service has filed 38 new charges against the brothers, bringing the total combined charges in the UK to 59.
The allegations involve four new accusers and cover offenses committed between 2010 and 2017, including rape, sexual assault, human trafficking, bodily harm, and offenses related to extreme pornography and indecent images of a child.
The brothers moved to Romania in 2016, where they faced similar investigations before travel restrictions were lifted in February 2025, allowing them to fly to Florida.

While the US State Department oversees international extraditions, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration will not intervene in the judicial proceedings.
Defense attorney Joseph McBride maintained his clients' innocence, asserting the extradition request is politically motivated.
“We are of course objecting to extradition because Andrew and Tristan are innocent,” McBride said. “They’ve never done nothing wrong.
They shouldn’t be extradited for crimes they did not commit.”

The US District Court in Miami will establish the official legal schedule and filing deadlines for the extradition proceedings in the coming weeks.
