Authorities confirmed his death on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The Paris prosecutor's office announced an official investigation to determine the cause of death.
First responders found no suspicious items or suspects at the scene. Local reports indicated the artist had complained of severe headaches for several days prior.
Tributes from French Leaders
French Culture Minister Catherine Pégard paid tribute on social media, expressing deep condolences.
"With the sudden passing of Kavinsky, France has lost one of its most unique voices," she said.

Pégard highlighted the international reach of his music. "From the film Drive to the Paris Olympics, the whole world was moved by Nightcall.

Born in Seine-Saint-Denis, the self-taught pianist launched his career in the early 2000s. He gained major prominence with his 2010 hit Nightcall and opened for Daft Punk.
