A high-speed police chase in Osdorp ended dramatically when a BMW crashed, leading to the discovery of explosive materials and the evacuation of part of the neighborhood.
Local resident Henk watched from his balcony after hearing helicopters overhead.
He described the scene as resembling the Wild West, saying the BMW entered the street at speeds exceeding 150 km/h and even lifted off the ground after hitting a speed bump.
Chase Linked to German Heist
The BMW was pursued because it was spotted the previous night near an explosive heist in Fürth, Germany.
After the crash in Osdorp, the occupants fled the scene.
Authorities found large quantities of explosive materials in the vehicle. The Explosieven Opruimingsdienst is now investigating the BMW.
No suspects have been arrested so far.
Henk added, "The car came flying into the street like a madman and even jumped a meter in the air over the speed bump."
