Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade paid tribute to former teammate Josh Richardson after the 32-year-old guard announced his retirement from professional basketball on Wednesday.
Richardson, selected by Miami as the 40th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, reflected on his journey in a social media statement.
"I always gave my best. That's why I can say this with no regret," he wrote on Instagram.
Wade, who mentored Richardson during his early years in Miami, responded directly to the announcement. "The coolest.
I loved going into the trenches with you, young fella," Wade commented.
Richardson spent two separate stints with the Heat, from 2015 to 2019 and again from 2023 to 2025.
Over his 11-year career, he also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and New Orleans Pelicans, as well as in Spain.
He averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game across his NBA career.
His best season came in 2018-2019 with Miami, when he posted 16.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game before being traded to Philadelphia for Jimmy Butler.
Former Heat teammates Bam Adebayo, Hassan Whiteside, Wayne Ellington, and Okaro White also congratulated Richardson on his retirement.
