ScotRail introduced a new booking platform and mobile app on Thursday, July 30, 2026, replacing its previous ticketing system provided by Trainline.
The digital system will now serve as the primary portal for purchasing train tickets across Scotland.

Under the new system, all ticket transactions must be processed via the official updated ScotRail app or website.
Rail officials advised passengers to download pre-purchased tickets before switching over, as existing passes will not transfer automatically to the new portal.
Un-downloaded tickets will remain accessible in the legacy app until it is officially decommissioned on October 21.
Customer accounts are being migrated to the new system, though ScotRail noted that not all personal information will transfer automatically.
Users logging in for the first time must update their credentials using the 'forgotten password' option.
The platform will carry over up to three months of historical booking records, albeit with limited detail.

Due to legal requirements, saved credit and debit card information cannot be transferred to the new system. Users will need to manually enter payment details during initial purchases.
Digital wallet options including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal remain functional.
Additionally, users cannot temporarily load tickets onto Smartcards through the website or app. However, ticket counters, vending machines, and onboard staff will continue offering Smartcard loading services.
The transition follows the recent implementation of a £10 minimum fare for ticketless travelers on July 1.
