Nelly Korda, the world’s top-ranked female golfer, has shared an essential tip for improving the golf swing, focusing on tempo as a key element.
She made these remarks while preparing to compete in the 2026 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes in England.

Tempo Connects the Greats
Korda, who has claimed 19 LPGA wins so far, believes consistent tempo is what connects the best players in golf history.
She explained that many amateurs rush the takeaway and transition phases of their swing, which can lead to jerky movements.
"I would say tempo is the number one thing I always revert back to.
A lot of people get really fast off the takeaway and then the transition at the top of their swing.
So giving yourself enough time in your transition so it’s not jerky," said Korda.
She added that tempo is often overlooked but is essential regardless of how a player's swing looks.
Confidence in one’s tempo can improve shot-making across the entire bag.

"It’s not talked about a lot but I would say tempo is one of the most important parts of the game, it doesn’t matter how gritty or ugly your swing looks.
It’s just about being confident with it, and I think that is the one thing that a lot of people have in common, the greats, is that their tempo has been pretty consistent throughout their entire bag, so making sure you’re always working on your tempo and figuring out how you want to hit the shot," Korda said.
