San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a jaw-dropping defensive play on Thursday night, robbing Rafael Devers of a three-run home run at Petco Park.
The spectacular catch came in the first inning, but the Padres ultimately fell 4-1 to the San Francisco Giants.

Devers was credited with a sacrifice fly on the play, giving the Giants an early 1-0 lead.
According to Statcast, Tatis covered 94 feet into the right-center field gap to reach the short wall in the beach area.
He leaped high to rob Devers, tumbled onto his backside upon landing, and flipped the ball to center fielder Jackson Merrill to relay to the infield.

The play was eerily similar to one last August, when Tatis also robbed Devers of a home run in the first inning at Petco Park, with pitcher JP Sears on the mound.
During that previous season, Tatis pulled off four home run robberies over a span of 27 home games.
Tatis transitioned to right field in 2023 after playing as an All-Star shortstop in 2021.

Following missed time in 2022 due to injuries and a PED suspension, he secured Gold Glove and Platinum Glove honors in both 2023 and 2025.
